Introductions

April minutes approved as is. Motion by Angela Knudson. Second by Kelli Summers. Voting: unanimous.

District 1 Report – Orden Yost

  • Each club as part of dist is to provide a person to serve on the district board.  These positions include:
    • Registration
    • Alignments
    • Some decisions on how money is spent

  • District requesting volunteers from clubs for District positions.

Director of Coaches – Mogie Demann

  • Need u9 and u9 girls there are no coaches – no tryouts if no coach

Kelli Summers – Director of Fields

  • Thank you to the teams for using the fields assigned
  • Rec teams trying to practice at same time – please share

JennyLyn – Treasure

  • Nothing to report

Paul Hezseltine - President

Last month the club approved to:

·         apply for 501C3 tax status

·         search for a paid trainer for the teams u-12 and under

BK will be moving out of state after the summer camps.  If the U13 teams and above wish to make use of a trainer they should:

·         Present at board meeting their resume

·         Describe what the trainer will be providing

·         What the cost will be

Recommend that teams submit info in advance so that things will move along faster – if wait for board meeting to start the process it will take longer. (Orden Yost)

Alan Demann

Our by laws have established policy for hiring and contracting with vendors – as board we need to address and get the bylaws changed for the 501C3.

Unit the trainer is in place can the teams hires their own trainer until the new one comes?

Paul

Trainer will be heavily involved with the teams

Hope to have in place for the fall season, until then can use other trainers provided they are approved by the board first as per the bylaws

Natalie Gochnour – Public Relations

  • Report on survey
  • Purpose of survey was to help with in establishing a vision for the club.
  • We have a major problem – lack of involvement and participation by parents: only 32 surveys received
  • Need more surveys make it reliable
  • Of the 32 received:

·         4 highest scoring:

      1. Skill developmet
      2. Quality of coaching
      3. Physical fitness
      4. Prep for high school

·         3 lowest scoring

1.      traveling short distant

2.      reasonable priced fees

3.      how important are volunteer coaches

Highly like:

·         physical exercise

·         cost of MM SC is good but willing to pay more

·         people will pay for real tickets

·         2.5 gpa to play – good but wanted it higher 2.8

Play time or play up – people didn’t get the question

What I like most:

·         Community

·         local support

·         support city

What I like least:

·         lack of focus

·         taking everyone who tries out

·         need more community involvent

·         80% by team not club

·         volunteer parent coach that don’t know how to play

·         disoragined coaches

What is needed:

·         better team organization

·         better coaching

Anything you would change:

·         not glorified rec team

·         players play even if don’t come to practice

A couple of general comments were:

·         This survey is so slanted towards being a rec club

·         This survey is so slanted towards being a competition club

Suggested that we have parents fill survey out at registration.

Natalie feels that we need at least a 3rd of club to respond to make results reliable.

I will take responses and can then I will write the vision and according to the facts and then we can move on and not spend so much time in board meeting discussing

Angela Knudson – VP of Boys

  • Advertisement put in the Valley Journal
  • Outdated banners – need more and bigger
  • Samples of banners to put on skywalk between Hillcrest and MHS handed out
  • Approval to put some up at Riverview and elsewhere
  • Banner promote club and general (no dates or year)  large are $240.00 each
  • Need budget for these
  • Orden will see if he can get some for free

Motion that the club purchase l big one for the sky bridge (white)

Motion – Natalie

2nd – Mogie

JennyLyn

Suggested that we establish a budget of $500 for advertisings

First motion withdrawn in favor of second.

Second – Orden Yost

Voting unanimous

Club registration at the Park Rec center June 1

Each team will have a packet there

One team rep from each team needs to be there to help with registration

Each team has to cut a check for their fees – treasure should be the last to register

Survey to be done at registration

Tournatment

Needs support – 6 volunteers

Every team is to have a tournament rep

We don’t have a list of team reps

Mindy and I (Angela) will call we just need to know who to call

We are almost at the point we will not be able to have a tournament if we don’t get help

Orden made up flyers so you can hand them out to your games and give to the other team coaches

Mindy Wankier has mailed packets out about donations to each team

Get parent to make phone calls and follow up on fundraisers

Brian Demann - wants to know if his fee of $25 can be used to find a trainer where the older boys don’t  get the advantage of the one provided by the club.

Paul - Yes, must be approved by the board.

Bk is moving out of state but he has committed to do the club through summer camp.

Next meeting – two teams will be at the summer games – but need all team managers to come to the next board meeting (June 14)

Adjourned: 9:37 pm

Soccer to the Max!
