 By Laws
 Article I
 Name
The name of the organization shall be the Murray Max Soccer Club.  The Murray Max Soccer Club sets fourth these bylaws, as established and granted by Murray Max Soccer Club.  Murray Max Soccer Club is affiliated and a member of the UYSA, (Utah Youth Soccer Association), and enjoys all rights, and privileges awarded with UYSA affiliations as well as USA Soccer Association.
 A.    Mission Statement and Philosophy:
 The Murray Max Soccer Club is organized to engage young men and young women ages 8 through 18, in the sport of soccer and, thereby accomplish the following:
                     1.   Teach youth the game of soccer and develop their skills relative to it.
2.   Simultaneously, and with even greater emphasis, promote and develop their skills to live their
individual lives productively and with satisfaction and to respect and contribute to their families,      their society and their team.
                3.  To accomplish these goals, emphasis will be placed on:
                                 a. Team work and cooperation.
                                b.  Work ethic, both individual and group.
                                c.  Furthering education.
                                d.  Promoting good citizenship and sportsmanship on the field, in the family,
                                  at school and in the community.
                                e.  Developing and honing individual soccer skills.
                                f.  Commitment by players, Coaches and officers to constant "best performance."
 4.    Excellence in soccer and the "game" of life by application of these goals.
 B.    General Requirements
 1.     All officers, coaches, trainers and other personnel shall be volunteers.  There shall be no paid personnel on the Club staff. (Exception:  should an individual team elect such a team, Trainers may be compensated up to $25 per player per season.  It is preferred that this Trainers be a volunteer also.)
                 2.     At least 85 per cent of all players on every team shall be residents of Murray City, with the ultimate goal being to have all players’ residents of Murray City or attending Murray City Schools.

           

            3.   Team rosters are determined at tryouts after spring season.  No player can transfer to another higher division team who is in the same age group during the season (June through May of each year).  A player may leave a team to go to a lower division team when parents provide a cause for unusual circumstances.  All transfers must be in writing and provided to the board for determining the action.
 4.     The Board of Directors must approve exceptions to any Club rules and regulations.  In making such exceptions, the Board of Directors must also determine if there are legitimate reasons to grant an exception and must also consider, with each exception granted, if it is desirable to change the rules to which the exception is granted.
                 5.     The Club will follow the By-laws of the Utah Youth Soccer Association (UYSA).

  Article II
         A.    Membership of the Board of Directors—The Murray Max Soccer Club shall have a Board of Directors made-up of volunteer members, parents of the Club, to assist with Club business for the purpose of promoting and building individual players, teams, and, Club development in the sport of soccer.  The Board of Directors will be made up of twelve members representing: 
         1.             Club President
        2.             Club Secretary
3.             Vice-President of Boys Coordinator
4.             Vice President of Boys Secretary
5.             Vice-President of the Girls Coordinator
6.             Vice President of Girls Secretary
7.             Director of Coaches
8.             Vice-President of Equipment
9.             Treasurer
10.          Vice-President of Finance
11.          Vice-President of Public Relations
12.          Director of Fields
13.          Director of Risk Management
 B.  Board Members Term of Office-- The Board of Directors (85% of whom shall be residents of Murray City) of the Murray Max Soccer Club shall consist of the following officers, each of whom shall serve a term of two (2) years (one year as an officer elect and the next year as an official voting officer).  (Note: only 2nd year officers will have voting privileges.  Officers elect will not vote but assist in the execution of business).
 C.    Responsibilities, Duties and Obligations of Board Members
                 1.   Club President (who shall be a resident of Murray City), duties shall be to:
 a.   Serve as the President of the Murray Max Soccer Club and chair of the Board of Directors.
b.   Preside at all Club meetings.  (In the absence of the president, the presiding chair shall be filled, first, by the vice president- Boys Coordinator, second, by the vice president Girls Coordinator, or in the absence of the above the vice president of Public Relations).
c.   Act as a liaison between District and State soccer officials. Conduct all Club business as necessary.
d.   Execute and Enforce all by-laws and other Club rules and regulations.
e.   Call all meetings, including special meetings, as needed. 
f.   Conduct the Club's annual meeting (usually in January or February), and assure that announcement of the meeting is delivered to Club Coaches, players and parents
g.   Conduct the Club party held at the kickoff or conclusion to the Murray Fun Days Tournament in August.
h.   Set the monthly agenda for the purposes of conducting Club and Board business. 
i.    Review all minutes and work with the Club Secretary to send out notices of meetings and official Club business. 
 2.   Club Secretary whose duties shall be to:
         a.   Take minutes of all Board of Directors meetings.
        b.   Prepare formal written minutes for review and approval by the Board of Directors.
        c.   Maintain a permanent file of all minutes and related documents.
        d.   Maintain an outline of changes and or additions to the By-Laws made by the Board of Directors, and revise the By-Laws each December after the Board’s review and approval. 
        e.   Maintain and distribute Club calendar on an annual basis.
        f.   In general, perform all duties incident to the Office of Secretary and such other duties as from time to time may be assigned to such office by the President or by the Board of Directors.
 
                3.     Vice-President Boys Coordinator whose duties shall be:                                                                                                
                         a.   Conduct all Club business for the boys division.
                        b.   Meet with Team Managers for boys division for training before fall and spring seasons and at least once during fall and spring seasons. 
                        c.   Enforce all by-laws and other Club rules and regulations.
                        d.   Conduct all meetings, including special meetings, in the absence of the President and as needed.
                        e.   Co-chair and assist with Fun Days Tournament
                        f.   Along with their Secretary, submit team information and help keep the Club’s website up-to-date.
 4.     Vice President of Boys Secretary, whose duties shall be to:
           a.   Take minutes of all meetings conducted by Boys’ Vice-President.
          b.  Prepare a written outline of action items assigned during all meetings and follow-up until completed. 
          c.   Maintain a permanent file of all minutes and related documents.
          d.   Maintain Scholastic files (which shall be destroyed yearly) on each boy and report any problem to Vice President of Boys.
                 1.   Satisfactory academic performance means a minimum 2.5 grade-point average.
                2.   Satisfactory citizenship performance means NO “U’s” or unsatisfactory.
           e.   Maintain a file for each boy’s Player Code form.
              5.    Vice-President Girls Coordinator whose duties shall be:
 a.     Conduct all Club business for the girls division.
b.     Meet with Team Managers for girls division for training before fall and spring seasons and at least   once during fall and spring season.
c.     Enforce all by-laws and other Club rules and regulations.
d.     Conduct all meetings, including special meetings, in the absent of the President and as needed.
e.     Co-chair and assist with Fun Days Tournament
f.     Along with their Secretary, submit team information and help keep the Club’s website up-to-date.
                               
6.   Vice President of Girls Secretary, whose duties shall be to:
         a.     Take minutes of all meetings conducted by Girls’ Vice-President
        b.     Prepare a written outline of action items assigned during all meetings and follow-up until completed. 
       c.      Maintain a permanent file of all minutes and related documents.
        d.     Maintain Scholastic files (which shall be destroyed yearly) on each girl and report any problem to Vice President of Girls.
                1.   Satisfactory academic performance means a minimum 2.5 grade-point average.
              2.   Satisfactory citizenship performance means NO “U’s” or unsatisfactory.
        e.     Maintain a file for each girl’s Player Code form.
 7.   Director of Coaches whose duties shall be:
         a.     Oversee the recruitment and selection of all Coaches.
        b.     Meet with Coaches and Assistant Coaches on a monthly basis or as determined during the season.
        c.     Assure that Coaches follow all Murray Max Soccer Club and Utah Youth Soccer Association By-Laws, rules and regulations and that the Coaches enforce the same with all players and parents.
        d.     Maintain a file of board approved coaching applications and resumes.
        e.     Solicit and review all applications from Coaches and make recommendations for appointments of the same to the Board of Directors.                                                 
                1.     All applications from prospective Coaches must be submitted to the Board of Directors with the direction of Coach’s recommendation.
                2.   Applications must include, as a minimum:
a.    A resume of the applicant’s soccer experience as a player, Coach or official.
b.    A resume of the applicant's experience in working with youth.
c.     Four (4) references dealing with the applicant’s coaching capabilities and personal character from adults (over age 21).                                                                                            
d.    Have or show their willingness to obtain state required licenses.
 8.    Vice-President-Equipment and Uniforms, whose duties shall be to:
 a.     Assure that each Murray Max team has all necessary equipment including uniforms, nets, one (1) game ball, four (4) corner flags, and 24 cones.
b.     Have sole responsibility for ordering team uniforms and equipment for the Club.  (In NO instance shall individual team personnel order ANY equipment or uniforms.)
c.     Distribute new uniforms and equipment to teams at the beginning of the season.  Inventory team equipment at the conclusion of the season.
d.     Select new uniforms every 2 to 3 years.
 9.    Treasurer, whose duties shall be to:
 a.     Maintain all Murray Max Soccer Club funds in proper accounts with appropriate financial institutions
b.     Maintain complete and appropriate financial records and assure that the same are independently audited at least annually.  Audit reports will, upon completion of the audit, be immediately distributed to the Board of Directors.
c.     Receive and disburse all Murray Max Soccer Club funds.                                                                                                     
d.     Issue semi-annual (fall) and annual (spring) financial reports to the Board of Directors.  The latter shall also be made available to those attending the annual meeting.
c.     Be appropriately bonded.  (Murray Max shall pay for the bond.)
 10.  Vice-President-Finance, whose duties shall be:
 a.     Plan, implement and oversee all Murray Max Soccer Club and team fund raising efforts.
1.          Contact businesses and organizations for contributions.
2.          Recruit others to assist in fund-raising efforts.
3.          Approve individual team fund-raising efforts.  (These shall be kept to a minimum, so as not to compete with Club fund-raising and to assure that Murray Max supporters are not continually approached for support).  If a team seeks a sponsor (having first approved such with the Club VP Finance), 10% of the funds will be shared with the Club.  Team fund-raising which provides a product or service will be shared at 10% with the Club.
b.     With the approval of the Board of Directors, arrange the payment of fees for "hardship" players out of Club funds.
c.     Obtain and audit, annually, and obtain semi-annually fundraising financial reports from each Murray Max team and the Club.  Report and audit all fundraising findings to the Board of Directors.
                                                      
11.  Vice-President-Public Relations, whose duties shall be to:
 a.     Oversee and handle all traditional and website communications for the Club.
                1.       Prepare or approve all website communications.  (General communications involving the Murray Max Soccer Club shall also be reviewed and approved by the entire Board of Directors.  Such review may be conducted by the vice-president public relations by telephone.)
                2.       All official Club correspondence shall be signed by the Club president or Club Secretary.
                3.       Prepare and arrange for distribution of Club tryout information.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  
12.  Director of Fields whose duties shall be to:
                 
          a.     Secure game and practice playing fields for all Murray Max teams.                                                              
          b.     Assure that fields are in proper and safe condition for play and practice.                                                     
          c.     Prepare and distribute an overall Club schedule of games for each season and instigate the continued use of nets where multiple games are played.
          d.     Coordinate game schedule with Coaches, UYSA and Murray Recreation.
                                                
13.  Director of Risk Management whose duties shall be to:
                               
        a.     Require two (2) adults to be in attendance at all Murray Max team/Club sponsored events (games, practices, etc.).                                                                                                                        
        b.     Oversee first aid training for each team and see that each team has a First-Aid Kit.                                                                                                   
        c.     Develop and maintain systems and policies to avoid adult abuse of children.            
        d.     Develop guidelines of action to be taken in Club activities to reduce Club and individual liability.  Oversee Club training in these matters.
        e.     Work with Director of Coaches in helping coaches obtain back-ground check for Murray Max coaches and other volunteers who work with Club athletes.
 D.    Responsibilities, Duties, Obligations of the Board of Directors—
   1.  General responsibilities, duties and obligations—of the Board of Directors are outlined as follows:
 a.     Transact all Club business.
b.     Establish the Club by-laws.
c.     Recommend and accept recommendations from the Coaches, parents and players for changes to the by-laws.
d.     Approve the appointment or reappointment of all Coaches annually, (in April and May,    but before Fall team Tryouts).
e.     Provide Fiscal oversight (management).
f.     Participate and oversee duties and assignments of Subcommittees.
g.     Oversee the formation of new teams.
  2.  Meetings and Board Business-- Board of Directors and a representative of each team will meet on a monthly basis, (excluding December and July as months off.  The month of December is for annual review of by-laws and July is in Preparation of Club Tournament).
 
a.       For the purpose of voting, a quorum must be in attendance at meetings.  A quorum will be considered present when a majority of directors (six) is present at a board meeting.  At least six of the twelve members, including the chair or co‑chair, must vote on issues.
b.       A simple majority vote of the Board is necessary to transact all Club business, except as specified below.
 3.   Member selection and appointment to the Board of Directors –Board appointment shall be approved by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the Board and a majority vote of ratification at the Club's annual meeting. 
 a.     The Board shall have the power to appoint all new officers, Coaches and other staff and Board members, including in the event of resignation, illness or removal from office.  All such appointments will subsequently be approved by a vote taken at the Murray Max Soccer Club's annual business meeting in January or February of each year.
b.     When a position becomes vacant, the chair will ask for nominations by the board upon acceptance, the nominee will be voted on by the Board of Directors at the next Board meeting.  (The Board will rotate members and replace Board members as needed). 
 4.   Removal of Officers, Coaches and staff--may be removed for failure to perform their duties, malfeasance in office, violation of Club rules and regulations or personal impropriety, especially involving players.  Such actions will require a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the Board of Directors.  In the event such action is necessary, the Board may appoint replacements for such "removed" officers.  Such action must also be approved by a vote taken at the Club's annual meeting.
 5.   Approval of Club By-Laws--Board of Directors will have final approval authority for the establishment of Club by-laws and all other rules and regulations.  A two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the Board is required for such action.
 6.   Annual Fees--The Board, with the advice of the Coaches and parents, shall have the power to set the annual fees assessed the players.
                           $50.00 training per year
                          $20.00 club operation fees per year
                          $10.00 referee assigner fee per year
 7.   Referees and Trainers--The Board will contract with a referee assignor and Trainers based on price and quality of assigning.
 E. Subcommittee makeup, responsibilities, duties and obligations
 1.   Subcommittee Makeup—Subcommittee Chairs are appointed by the Chair of the Board and shall include but are not limited to:
              a.     Tryout Subcommittee
              b.     Murray Max Tournament Subcommittee
              c.     Banquet Subcommittee
              d.     Murray Max and Murray Parks and Recreation Partnership Subcommittee
              e.     Murray Max Snack Shack
         2.     Subcommittee Responsibilities
 a.     General Responsibilities
1.   Minutes will be taken of the subcommittee meetings. 
2.   The subcommittee chairs will report directly to the Board of Directors at monthly board meetings to share progress and receive support and direction from the Club.
c.      Descriptions, Duties, Responsibilities
    
      1. Tryout Subcommittee: A soccer tryout subcommittee will begin meeting no later than January of each year for the purpose of conducting tryouts for Murray Max Soccer Club in May.
a.       To conduct tryouts with drills and skills assisting Coaches and providing support that allows Coaches of teams more time for assessment and freedom for hands on involvement.
b.       The soccer tryout subcommittee ideally should be chaired by the past Director of Coaches, but, can be assisted by the current Director of Coaches and or the Director of Coaches elect.
c.        To inform parents of the team involvement, positions in Murray Max Soccer Club Board and subcommittees.
                                                    d.     Teams will be determined by June 15th of each year with a roster of at least 10 to 13 players depending on age group.
      2.   Murray Max Tournament Subcommittee: A soccer tournament subcommittee will begin meeting no later than February of each year for the purpose of sponsoring and conducting the Murray Max annual soccer Tournament in July or August.
     3.   Banquet Subcommittee: A soccer Banquet Subcommittee will begin meeting no later than May of each year to sponsor and host the annual Murray Max soccer banquet for the purposes of holding:
     a.     Recognition of Murray Max Volunteer of the Year.
    b.     Recognition of individual player academic achievement
    c.     Recognition of Coach and team achievements.
    d.     Having fun 
     4.   Murray Max and Murray Parks and Recreation Partnership Subcommittee:  In keeping with the spirit of community support and building and maintaining a partnership for the betterment of the sport of soccer within Murray, Murray Max will meet and establish a partnership committee with Murray City Parks and Recreation Department.
 a. Comprised of the Murray Max Club President, Murray Max Club Director of Coaches and one appointee from Murray Max as appointed by the Club president.
b.   Will meet no less than four times a year.
c.   Will assist and work with Murray Parks and Recreation to provide a soccer clinic for the Murray community twice a year, once in March and one in September. 
 5.   Murray Max Snack Shack—The Murray Max Snack Shack will work for the purposes of operating and building financial support for Murray Max Soccer Club to assist with individual grants for players and resources for Murray Max Soccer Club in assisting with Coach and team development through additional training, tournaments and camps. 
 Article III
         Responsibilities, Duties, Obligations of Players, Parents, Coaches, and Teams
         A.    Players:
1.   Each player and his/her parents or guardians shall understand that the general philosophy of the Murray Max Soccer Club is that playing with the Club is a privilege and privileges are EARNED.   Playing is not a right gained by the payment of fees.  Player shall be of the proper age and approved by the Club board (which approval shall not be unreasonably withheld) and registered by the state to compete on the various teams.
2.   Shall read, understand and sign copies of the Player’s Code at the beginning of each season.  No player who fails to sign the code will be allowed to play or practice with any Murray Max Team
3.   Shall commit to attend a minimum of ninety (90) per cent of all practices and all games, unless excused, in advance, by their Coaches.
4.   Shall participate to the level of expectation of their Coaches.
5.   Shall maintain acceptable academic standards (school grades and satisfactory citizenship). 
               a.   No one with a grade-point average (GPA) of less than 2.5, a letter grade of F or Unsatisfactory citizenship in any class shall be considered ineligible to play in any team games or participate in team practices (unless such an exception is requested, in writing, by the player’s parents or guardians and approved by the Board).
              b.   Special recognition will be given to players who improve their academic performance by 10% or achieve honor roll status (GPA of 3.5 or higher).
 6.   Shall maintain high standards of citizenship with the team, at school, in the home and general  community.  As a minimum, high standards of citizenship shall mean:
               a.   Shall not use drugs, alcohol or tobacco at any time.
              b.   Shall use proper language at all times (no profanity or vulgarity).
              c.   Shall be a positive influence on the team, in the home, classroom, community and elsewhere.
              d.   Shall display commitment to the Club and its program, dedication to performance standards, loyalty to teammates and Coaches and work constantly to "be your best."
                                           
      7.   Shall always display a positive and cooperative individual work ethic.  (Strong desire is contagious.)
               a.   Players shall commit to attending two practice sessions and two games each week.
              b.   Players shall give their full attention at all times during practice sessions, even if the coaching staff is not working directly with them.
              c.   Players shall pledge to work as a team, for the good of the team and emphasize "teamwork" in all they do during practice and in games.
 Players not achieving requirements 1 through 7, above, shall be placed on probation and not be allowed to play in any regular season or tournament games until such deficiencies are rectified.  (Such players may be allowed to continue to practice with their team with the approval of their Coaches and the Board of Directors.)
       8.   Game conduct:
              a.   Players, parents, Coaches or others associated with the Club will be allowed to receive no more than one (1) red card per season, unless a review of the "penalty circumstances" by a special review board sets aside this policy at a formal hearing.
              b.   A review board will consist of the following individuals:
 1.       The Murray Max Soccer Club’s President (or proxy).
2.       The Boys or Girls, whichever is applicable, Vice President (or proxy).
3.       The Director of Coaches (or proxy).
4.       The Boys or Girls Secretary, whichever is applicable or Club Secretary as proxy.
c.   Notice of the review hearing will be given to the player, the players' parents and Coach.  The notice, in writing, shall contain the date, time and location of the hearing.
             1.       The issuance of excessive yellow cards, warnings from referees or on red card shall be reviewed by the review board.
2.       The player to whom the card was issued, the player's parents and the team Coach shall attend the hearing.
3.       The Review Board shall review the circumstances under which the card was issued (was the infraction for which the card was given the result of "dirty play" or "hustle and misjudgment.")
4.       The review board shall gather data and receive testimony from qualified witnesses.
5.       After hearing and studying the same, the review board will determine whether the issuance of the card warrants disciplinary action.
          6.   Concurrence with the circumstances surrounding the issuance of red card will result in the "carded" player sitting out the team's next two (2) games--as a minimum.
7.       Formal minutes will be recorded.  The Coach of the team of the offending party will be responsible for communicating the results and stipulations required by the review board and will secure agreement from the offending party before the offending party is allowed to participate in Club/team events.
       9.   The Board has the right to review any conduct issues.
 a.   Each player and the player's parents will, before the player is allowed to begin practice or play with any of the Murray Max teams, sign formal agreements with the Murray Max Soccer Club,  stipulating they agree to and shall follow all Murray Max Soccer Club rules and regulations at all times.
                 
B. Parent & Fan Conduct
 At the time that players register to play with the Murray Max Soccer Club and sign their players’ agreement, parents shall also be required to co-sign a Parental Conduct Agreement which pledges their support for the Murray Max program and its goals and support of their child or children involved with Murray Max soccer teams. 
                                 1.   Shall uphold all Murray Max by-laws.
                                2.   Shall not participate in negative conduct towards referees, opposing players, Coaches and fans.
                                3.   Will avoid “coaching” or yelling instructions from the sidelines.  (Only positive/supportive cheering will be allowed.)
                                4.   Can listen to any instructions from the Coach (before, during and after games and practices) but will avoid verbal participation in such unless invited by the Coach.
                                                     a.   Concerns should first be privately directed to the Coach and then if warranted to the Club Director of Coaches.
                                 5.   Shall be involved in the team or Club organization.
                                6.   Except where it is determined by the referee to be impractical, team bench areas shall be along the same touchline.  Each team bench area shall be located two yards outside the touchline, beginning not closer than five yards from midfield and extending not further than twenty yards from midfield.  The home team shall have the right to choose the location of its bench area.  Coaches and substitutes must remain within their team’s bench area during the game.
                 Parents and spectators must occupy the sideline opposite the team bench areas.  Supporters of a team must assemble on the side of the midfield facing the team bench area of that team.  There shall be a buffer zone extending ten yards on each side of midfield that may not be occupied by parents or spectators.
 C. The Coaches and All Assistant Coaches
 Each Coach shall understand the mission statement, philosophy, organization, governance, by-laws, rules and regulations of the Murray Max Soccer Club and abide by the same.  They shall be committed to the development of the players, in terms of soccer skills and also, and even more importantly, in the furthering of their education and their abilities to be prepared for life.
                                 1.   Responsibly conduct all team business and affairs according to Murray Max Soccer Club and Utah Youth Soccer Association rules and regulations.  (See Section on Mandatory Team Organization.)
                                2.   Refrain from smoking or drinking on practice or playing fields or in front of players.
                                3.   Never use drugs or any controlled substance.  (Violation of this rule will result in immediate suspension and, upon verification of the violation, immediate and permanent dismissal.)
                                4.   Use appropriate language at all times.
                                                     a.   No profanity and no vulgarity.
                                                    b.   No abusive language with players, other Coaches, parents or officials.
                                                    c.   No degrading or humiliating comments or behavior towards any player.
                                                    d.   "Yell" instructions and directions only--no negative comments on any playing or practice field.
                               5.   No physical or verbal abuse of referees.
                              6.   Develop reasonable schedules and maintain them.
                              7.   Always be honest with players and parents.
                              8.   Uphold & Implement the by-laws of the Murray Max Soccer Club.
                              9.   Always have at least one other adult at all practices, games and Club/team sponsored events (2 adults present at all time). 
                              10.          Permit parents to listen to team discussions at all times (games, practices etc.)
                                 Violation of this code of conduct by any Coach will be subject to action recommended and approved by the Board of Directors.  
 D. The Team
 The Murray Max volunteer competitive soccer Club receives its support and its success from the generous volunteer and is supportive resources from the parent’s, families and businesses of Murray.  
 A.      Team Organization Each team of the Murray Max Soccer Club shall be organized as follows:
 
                1.   Head Coach
                2.   Assistant Coach (may have more than one)
                3.   Team Manager / Board Representative (optional)
                4.   Team Treasurer / Registrar
                5.   Public Relations and Website Assistant
                6.   Team Equipment Coordinator
                7.   Board Representative
 B.      Responsibilities, Duties and Obligations of Team Officers
                 1.   Head Coach, who shall perform the following duties:
                     a.   Assume full responsibility and accountability for the operation of the team.
                    b.   Assure that all Coaches and players follow all the rules and regulations of the Murray Max Soccer Club and the Utah Youth Soccer Association.
                    c.   Obtain the required UYSA Coaching license to qualify as Coach of the team.
                    d.   Permit parents/guardians to listen to all team discussions at all times.
                    e.   Insure that there are at least 2 adults at each Team or Club event and particularly at practices.
                                 2.  Assistant Coaches, who shall:
                                                     a.   Counsel and assist head Coaches.

                                       b.   Carry out assignments of head Coaches

                                       c.   Complete a First-Aid Training through the Risk Manager.     
                                                    d.   Require attendance from 2 adults (as a minimum at all Club/team events (i.e. games, practices   etc.)
   3.   Team Manager/Board Member (Optional), who shall work with the Head Coach and could serve on the Board of Murray Max and will:
                                     a.   Work with the Coaches to maintain all documentation (birth certificates and academic eligibility forms) required by the Club.
               1.  Submit a report of team players’ grades/academic eligibility to the Boys or Girls Secretary, as applicable.        
                             b.   Assist Coaches, as requested, in overseeing and discharging all administrative and organizational requirements of the team in order to allow Coaches maximum time for working with the players.
                            c.   Communicate information from the Murray Max Soccer Club, the Utah Youth Soccer Association (UYSA) and the team to players and parents.
                            d.   File a written copy of the team's organization, giving the names and telephone numbers of all persons serving in each of the required positions to the Board of Directors (Club Secretary) and to the Boys and Girls Secretary.
                            e.   Insure that all players and their parents or guardians read and sign copies of the players’/parents’ code of conduct at the beginning of each season and submit copies of the same to the Boys and Girls Secretary.  This must be done and approved by the Board before any teams begin playing league games.
                            f.   Transportation. 
                        1.   Arrange for away game transportation.
                        2.   Assure that drivers of all vehicles used for transportation have proper insurance (liability coverage) to safe guard players in transit.
                        3.   Assure the proper number of seat belts are available for all riders.
                     g.   Assure all players maintain academic eligibility and strictly enforce compliance with such eligibility requirements by all players.
                                                                    1.   Take whatever action is necessary to bring each player into compliance or initiate disciplinary action as required by Club rules and regulations.
                                                                    2.   Work with the team manager to assure proper documentation of academic eligibility is current and constantly maintained. 
                                            h.   Assure that all players submit proper birth certificates to the Team Manager.                                 
                                            i.    Maintain a current team roster, which includes player’s names, addresses and school grade-point average (GPA) and submit a copy to the Club Secretary before, during and after each season.
                                            j.    Assure proper "cheering" for their Murray Max team:
                  1.   Following UYSA guidelines.
                  2.   No referee "bashing" or verbal or physical abuse of officials.
                  3.   Good sportsmanship towards team members and opponents.
                  4.   Assist in maintaining State imposed sideline rules.
 4.    Team Treasurer/Registrar, who shall:
                                                                                                                                         
                            a.   Maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date records of all team finances. 
                                              1.   Insure all money that is collected from parents or players that go through Club account.
                                              2.   Keep team funds in the Club account—in the name of the team.
                                              3.   All team finances shall be kept “in the black”.  There shall be no team indebtedness or deficit spending. 
                        b. Properly register all players at the beginning of each season.
                                      1.   Shall register all team players through the Club Secretary and Treasurer.
                                      2.   Submit Club fees to the Club treasurer immediately upon registration at the start of  each season.
                                      3.   Team financial records shall be submitted to the Club Treasurer twice yearly (June 1 and December 31) for a review and audit.
                                      4.   Maintain necessary records for players' "passes" and assure that such are available for presentation to officials at each game.
           c.   Collect all fees from players/parents and keep accurate records of the same.  (Players shall not be permitted to play in any team games until fees are paid in full.) 
                       1.   Fees to be collected may include: registration, Club fees, tournaments, and fees for uniforms and equipment.
  5.    Public Relations and Communications Assistant, who shall:
                                                   a.   Prepare information for website stories on games and deliver it to the Vice President of Public Relations via email IMMEDIATELY after each team game.  Also arrange for still photos to be taken of games whenever possible.
                                                  b.   Under the direction of Coaches, prepare communications with team members and their parents.                                      
                                                  c.   If requested by the Coaches, try to arrange for video taping of some games so that such can be used for review and training of the team.
 6.   Team Equipment Coordinator, who shall:
                                                     a.   Maintain all equipment and First Aid Kits in proper condition.
                                                    b.   Put up and take down nets and set up other equipment for all home games and arrange for any equipment needed for practices.
                                                    c.   Maintain, store, inventory and account for all Club and team equipment.
 E.  Fees
 Fees will be assessed each player at the beginning of the season or upon entry to a team roster for the use of the team uniform and UYSA and Murray Max Club assessments. (Club fees are currently set at $10/player/season; $5/player/season for Referee assignment and $25.00/player/season for Club training.)
                                 1.   The Board of Directors, with the advice and counsel of the Coaches and parents board shall set annual fees.
                                2.   Fees must be current before a player will be allowed to participate in any league or tournament game.
                                3.   At the discretion of Coaches, a player may be allowed to participate in practice sessions and practice games before required fees are paid.
 Article IV
 Murray Max Club Fundraising
 A.  Purpose of Fundraising:  In the spirit of promoting individual player development and supporting the increased involvement and growth of the sport of soccer Murray Max Soccer Club will raise funds for the express purposes of promoting a competitive, friendly, and fun soccer experience for the youth of Murray.  Fundraising is optional and not mandatory.  No player can be excluded from play, removed from team or punished in any way for not participating in the fundraising process.
         1.   Fundraising Includes but is not limited to the following:
                                        a.       Keeping good faith with Utah law which prohibits gambling. Murray Max Fundraising activities must maintain a complete separation from accepting / donating / giving money, or participating in any fundraising activity that includes winning something of value with a game of chance.


  Appendix    
 Murray Max Player Code
 Murray Max Players:
                 1.  Shall be of the proper age to compete on the various teams.
                2.  Shall commit to attend a minimum of ninety (90%) per cent of all practices and all games,                    
                     unless excused, in advance, by their Coaches.
                3.  Shall participate to the level of expectation of their Coaches.
                4.  Shall maintain acceptable academic standards (school grades and satisfactory citizenship).                                            
a.   No one with a grade-point average (GPA) of less than 2.5 or unsatisfactory citizenship in any class shall be considered eligible to play in any team games (unless such an exception is requested, in writing, by the player's parents or guardians and approved by the Board).               
b.   Special recognition will be given to players who improve their academic performance by 10% or achieve honor roll status (GPA of 3.6 or higher). 
                5. Shall maintain high standards of citizenship with the team, at school, in the home and general community.  As a minimum, high standards of citizenship shall mean:
      a.   Shall not use drugs, alcohol or tobacco at any time.
      b.   Shall use proper language at all times (no profanity or vulgarity).                                                                               
      c.   Shall be a positive influence on the team, in the home, classroom, community and elsewhere.
      d.   Shall display commitment to the Club and its program, dedication to performance standards, loyalty to teammates and Coaches, and work constantly to "be your best."
6.   Shall always display a positive and cooperative individual work ethic.  (Strong desire is contagious.)
      a.  Players shall commit to attending two practice sessions and two games each week.               
      b.  Players shall give their full attention at all times during practice sessions, even if the coaching staff is not working directly with them.
      c.  Players shall pledge to work as a team, for the good of the team and emphasize "teamwork" in all they do during practice and in games.
   Players not achieving requirements 1 through 6, above, shall be placed on probation and not be allowed to play in any regular season or tournament games until such deficiencies are rectified.   Such players may be allowed to continue to practice with their team with the approval of the Coaches and Parents Board and the Board of Directors.
               7.     Game conduct:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        
a.   Players will be allowed to receive one (1) red card per season, unless a review of the “penalty circumstances” by a special review board sets aside this policy at a formal hearing.
